1. Membership Requirement
All local trips (routes, with the exception of “local experiences”) organized by Localbird Ecotourism Canarias are reserved exclusively for individuals with an active membership.
How the membership works
- To participate in any route, it is mandatory to have an active Localbird Membership, which includes 1 trip per month and many more advantages.
- The membership renews monthly and can be cancelled at any time.
- The membership must be active on the date of the activity in order to participate legally.
By activating the membership:
- The user is added to our internal members registry for the duration of their active subscription period.
- They gain access to the activities included in their plan.
- Their participation is formally documented in accordance with administrative requirements for ecotourism activities.
This system ensures that everything is managed transparently, legally, and in line with operational regulations, while also fostering a real community of people who share a passion for ecotravel and authentic local experiences.
2. Use of Member Data
To participate in our activities, we are required to collect basic personal data from each member: full name, date of birth, and email address.
Why we collect this data
The regulations governing ecotourism activities require us to maintain an administrative and nominative registry of all participants.
This information is essential in order to:
- Verify the participant’s identity and active membership status.
- Properly manage the documentation required to operate legally.
- Keep the necessary internal records in case public institutions (such as tax authorities or other regulatory bodies) request verification that our activities comply with administrative obligations.
How we use this data
The data is used exclusively for:
- Membership management.
- Verification required for participation in the activities.
- Internal administrative documentation and potential audits.
Privacy commitment
- We do not share this data with any external entities.
- We do not use it for marketing, promotional purposes, newsletters, or sale of databases.
- The information is stored solely as internal documentation and only for the period required by applicable regulations.
4. Code of Conduct During the Trip
To ensure a safe, smooth, and enjoyable experience for everyone, all participants are required to follow the instructions of the guide or group leader throughout the entire activity.
This includes:
- Arriving on time at the designated meeting points and schedules.
- Respecting the itinerary and planned timing.
- Following all safety guidelines.
- Adhering to environmental rules and respecting the natural surroundings.
The guide is responsible for the safety and organization of the group.
If a participant fails to follow the guide’s instructions or puts the group at risk, they may be asked to leave the activity.
5. Liability Insurance Information
Localbird Ecotourism Canarias has a Liability Insurance policy that provides coverage in the event of an accident during an activity when the incident is a direct consequence of an action or omission attributable to our team.
Examples of covered situations include:
- Improper use or placement of equipment provided by the organization (e.g., a poorly secured rope).
- Guiding participants through a risky area without appropriate warning.
In such cases, the insurance would cover damages up to a limit of €300,000, provided the incident results from our responsibility.
Please note:
- The insurance does not cover accidental incidents or situations outside our control, such as spontaneous falls, physical strain injuries, or unforeseen circumstances inherent to natural environments.
- In these cases, medical or rescue expenses must be covered by the participant.
For those seeking broader protection, we offer the option to purchase additional accident insurance, which covers medical assistance and rescue operations even when the incident is not caused by negligence on Localbird’s part.
